Assault regiments suspend military recruitment: Drapaty’s decision

The newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapaty, has ordered a suspension of the replenishment of the assault regiments of the Ground Forces with personnel. According to sources, the order came into effect on July 26.
This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda, citing sources in four assault regiments.
According to one of the publication’s interlocutors, units can no longer receive recruits from reserve battalions and territorial recruitment centers.
“We can’t take people from BREZs and CCCs now,” the UP interlocutor said.
Another source clarified that the commander-in-chief’s decision also suspended the transfer of servicemen from other units to assault regiments.
“We received a message that by the decision of the Commander-in-Chief, the supply of human resources to the assault military units of the Land Forces will be suspended from 00:00 on July 26. The movement of military personnel from other units has also been suspended,” the source said.
At the same time, according to him, there is currently a possibility of returning servicemen who have left the unit without permission through the “Army+” application only for those who left the units before June 12.
According to the Ukrainian Military Police, this is the first decision by the high military command to limit the replenishment of assault regiments. Prior to this, individual units, in particular the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” and the 225th Assault Regiment, had the opportunity to regularly increase the number of personnel.
The publication also notes that in recent months, the media has been reporting on cases of torture, beatings, and deaths in some assault units. Against this background, according to the interlocutors of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, fears have arisen among servicemen about the future fate of the assault regiments and possible changes in their structure.
As reported, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun an audit of the manning of military units and the distribution of personnel . Its goal is to assess how effectively military personnel are distributed between units and whether this meets the needs of the front.
