Attack drones hit one of Russia’s largest refineries in Yaroslavl

On the night of December 12, drones attacked the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia.
According to local Telegram channels and residents, a massive fire broke out on the premises of the enterprise after the attack, with thick black smoke visible, rising over the city. Residents heard a series of explosions around 3 a.m.
Slavneft-YANOS is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, its capacity allows it to process 15 million tons of oil per year, and in terms of primary processing volumes, it ranks 5th among the country’s refineries.
Footage from the scene shows massive flames and plumes of smoke, confirming the severity of the drone strike. There has been no official comment from Russian authorities on the aftermath of the attack.
At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry said that during the night their air defense allegedly destroyed 90 aircraft-type drones. According to the Russian agency, the largest number – 63 drones – were shot down over the Bryansk region, another 8 UAVs – over the Yaroslavl region, 4 – over the Moscow region, 3 – over the Smolensk and Tver regions, as well as over the Black Sea; 2 drones were shot down over the Tambov and Tula regions, and one each – over the Oryol and Rostov regions.
As a reminder, on the night of December 12, three Russian regions reported airstrikes and explosions . In Yaroslavl and Tver, the effects of drone attacks were recorded, and in Smolensk, for the first time in a long time, a prolonged airstrike alert was declared.
As reported, on the night of December 11 , several regions of Russia were subjected to large-scale drone attacks, causing fires at industrial facilities and disruptions in air traffic around Moscow.
