Attack on Lutsk: Korsak Museum of Contemporary Art damaged

In Lutsk, part of the “Cosmogony” art project, which is exhibited at the Korsak Museum of Contemporary Ukrainian Art, was damaged as a result of a Russian attack. When debris from a Russian jet drone fell on October 13, the roof of the “Adrenaline City” cultural and entertainment center caught fire. Other museum halls and works of art were not damaged.

This was announced by the museum’s founder, Viktor Korsak, in a video message.

According to him, the fire was contained, but part of “Cosmogony” was damaged. Korsak created this project together with artist Petr Antip over the course of two years. It consists of six parts.

The part of the work that symbolizes the future was damaged. Korsak called it symbolic, because the Russian war changed the future of Ukraine.

“The idea was to show humanity who we are, what we are for, and where we are moving. And the sixth part, which is behind me, is about the future. It is probably symbolic that it was damaged, because because of this war, our future became different. Part of the future from the Cosmogony project has already been destroyed today. And here the question is whether it is even possible to destroy the future,” said the founder of the museum.

Viktor Korsak also shared his doubts about the future fate of the damaged work. According to him, it is necessary to decide whether to restore it or leave traces of destruction as a reminder of the consequences of the war.

“In conclusion, I have this dilemma: whether to restore this future or leave it as it is, for posterity, so that it serves as a reminder of what war is, what it leads to, a reminder to those who start wars that this is a great misfortune,” said Korsak.

The decision on the renewal of the sixth part of “Cosmogony” will be made jointly with Petro Antip.

At the same time, other museum halls and works of art remained intact. The institution will continue its work and implement new projects.

It was previously reported that on the evening of October 13, Russian troops attacked Lutsk with a Shahed jet. Air defense forces shot down the drone , but its debris fell on the territory of the Adrenaline City entertainment center, where a fire broke out.

In addition, on the morning of Tuesday, October 13, a Russian drone hit an educational institution in the center of Rivne. The strike injured some people and caused significant damage to the building.
