The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Defense Forces, struck oil refining infrastructure in the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation. The Kirishinaftoorgsintez oil refinery and the Kirishi oil pumping station were hit.

This was reported to the Security Service of Ukraine.

It is noted that the operation was carried out by fighters of the Alpha special forces unit together with military units. As a result of the attack, fires broke out on the territory of the facilities.

According to the SBU, three installations used for primary oil processing were hit at the plant itself. A tank with petroleum products was hit at the oil pumping station.

The department notes that this plant is one of the largest in Russia and plays an important role in the country’s oil refining industry. The station, in turn, ensures the transportation of oil and oil products, including for export.

The SBU emphasized that such strikes are aimed at reducing Russia’s financial capabilities to wage war.

“Every barrel of Russian oil sold is a resource for continuing aggression against Ukraine,” the service emphasized.

The department also added that Russian strategic targets are no longer unreachable.

“No enterprise that works for war will be left unattended,” the SBU said.

As reported, on the night of Tuesday, May 5, drones attacked the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation . An oil refinery in the city of Kirishi was hit, after which a fire broke out there.
