In the Polish city of Legnica, an unknown woman attacked two 13-year-old Ukrainian girls. Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and checking whether the attack could have been committed because of the girls’ national origin.

This was reported by the spokeswoman of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Karolina Halecka.

According to her, the incident occurred on the evening of July 18 on Polyarnaya Street near the swimming pool. According to the victims, an unknown woman hit both teenagers.

“No one has the right to use violence against another person, especially a child. It is also unacceptable that the attack most likely occurred because of the national origin of the teenage girls,” said Karolina Halecka.

Law enforcement officers are currently conducting investigative actions into the violation of physical integrity and are establishing all the circumstances of the incident, including the possible motive for the attack.

Recall that in Poland, since the beginning of the year , there has been a significant increase in reports of hate crimes against Ukrainian citizens . In the first six months of 2026, Ukrainians contacted the police 180 times, which is more than a third more than in the same periods of previous years. If this trend continues, by the end of the year the number of applications may reach a record.
