Attempted to set fire to mosque in Lviv: police looking for attacker

In Lviv, on the evening of April 28, an arson attempt occurred at the Islamic Religious and Cultural Center.

This was reported to the police.

At around 8:40 p.m., a call was received on line 102 about a fire in a building.

As previously established by law enforcement officers, an unknown man threw two bottles of incendiary mixture into the room and fled.

“Liquid from one bottle caught fire, but one of the attendants extinguished the flames,” police said.

Investigators are working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident, searching for witnesses, and trying to identify the attacker.

“Priority investigative actions are being carried out… measures are being taken to identify the perpetrator,” law enforcement officials noted.

A criminal case has been opened into the incident.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

“The investigation is ongoing under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the police added.
