Australia Donates Abrams Tanks to Ukraine

Australia has delivered the first batch of M1A1 Abrams battle tanks to Ukraine. The remaining combat vehicles will be delivered in the coming months.

This is stated in a statement by the country’s Ministry of Defense.

It is noted that in response to a request from the Ukrainian government, Australia provided 49 Abrams tanks to help strengthen the Ukrainians’ fight against Russia’s illegal and immoral invasion.

The Australian Ministry of Defense also clarified that Ukraine has already received more than half of the promised tanks, and the delivery of the remaining combat vehicles will take place in the coming months.

“The M1A1 Abrams tanks will add mobility and firepower to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and will make a significant contribution to Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression,” said Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles.

The tanks are reportedly part of a military aid package allocated to Ukraine to defend itself against Russia.

Let us recall that earlier the Australian government expanded the sanctions list, introducing restrictions against 37 Russian citizens and 7 Russian organizations .
