Azerbaijan has allocated two million dollars in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, which will be used to purchase and deliver electrical equipment to support the power system. The decision was made by President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing the continuation of friendly and partnership relations between the two states.

This was reported by the Office of the President of Azerbaijan.

According to the order, the Republic of Azerbaijan will provide Ukraine with a new humanitarian aid package worth $2 million. The funds will be allocated from the reserve fund of the head of state, provided for in the state budget for 2025.

The money will be used by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy to purchase and ship domestically manufactured electrical equipment. The main goal is to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which has been severely damaged by Russian attacks.

The document notes that this is not the first time Azerbaijan has helped Ukraine. Previously, the country has repeatedly sent humanitarian cargo, including generators, transformers, and medical supplies.

The order also mentions that relations between the two states are developing on the basis of mutual respect and strategic partnership, enshrined in a number of agreements. Among them are the “Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership” of March 16, 2000, the “Declaration on Friendship and Strategic Partnership” of 2008, and the “Joint Declaration of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine” of January 14, 2022.

By the way, on Sunday, August 10, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev , during which they discussed the Russian strikes.

It was previously reported that Ukraine is starting to import Azerbaijani gas through the Trans-Balkan Corridor. This will help diversify the country’s economy.
