Backup heating network for Teremki: a new heating main is being built in Kyiv

The Kyiv City State Administration noted that the project is one of the key elements of the Capital Resilience Plan and should increase the reliability of the city’s thermal infrastructure in conditions of military threats.

After the heating main is put into operation, 183 residential buildings, three medical institutions, and 18 educational institutions, including schools and kindergartens, will receive backup heat supply.

To lay a new heating network, some of the communications will have to be laid through the territory of green spaces. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, a special commission has already inspected the site and determined that 662 trees and 70 bushes need to be removed. At the same time, 56 trees and 16 bushes are planned to be transplanted.

The city administration assured that all work will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of environmental legislation. After construction is completed, the territory will be recultivated, landscaping will be restored, and new trees, bushes, and other greenery will be planted.

The customer of the construction is the Kyivteploenergo KP. The company will also pay the compensation stipulated by law for the removed green spaces. The funds received will be used to create and develop new green areas in the capital.

The Kyiv City State Administration emphasized that the construction of a backup heating main is an important step to increase the resilience of Kyiv’s critical infrastructure and will guarantee heat supply to thousands of Teremki residents even in the event of emergencies.

It was previously reported that the NSDC reviewed the Resilience Plan for Ukrainian Regions and Cities, which is aimed at strengthening security and protecting critical infrastructure .
