In January 2026, Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, will leave his post, according to a Reuters report.

He has already informed colleagues of his intention to leave the administration. According to one of the interlocutors, Kellogg never aspired to hold office for a long time.

“A special presidential envoy is a temporary appointment, and in theory such envoys must be confirmed by the Senate to remain in their positions for more than 360 days,” the news agency explained.

According to Kellogg, given current US law, January would be a natural point to leave office.

As noted, such a decision would be bad news for Kyiv, as the special envoy remained a more loyal supporter of Ukraine than other administration officials.

Kellogg has strongly condemned Russia’s attacks and has often clashed with another US special representative, Steve Witkoff, who repeats some pro-Russian theses and advocates a unilateral exchange of territories as part of a peace deal.

Recall, Keith Kellogg previously criticized Kremlin leader Putin , comparing his actions to Hitler’s actions in 1939.

As is known, Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded US President’s Special Representative Keith Kellogg with the Order of Merit, 1st degree .
