Bail of almost seven million: court arrests head of SBU of Zhytomyr region for embezzling money from fortifications

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court has imposed a preventive measure on Volodymyr Kompanichenko, the head of the SBU Department in Zhytomyr region. He has been sentenced to 60 days in custody with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 6,988,800 hryvnias.
This was reported by the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court.
As noted, investigating judge Oleksiy Kravchuk partially satisfied the request of the prosecutor of the Prosecutor General’s Office and applied a preventive measure to the suspect in the form of detention until April 25, 2026 inclusive.
“The investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court partially satisfied the request of the prosecutor of the Prosecutor General’s Office and applied a preventive measure to the head of the SBU Department in Zhytomyr region in the form of detention for a period of 60 days (until April 25, 2026 inclusive). As an alternative, the Anti-Corruption Court set bail for the suspect in the amount of UAH 6,988,800,” the report says.
Earlier, on February 25, law enforcement officers detained Volodymyr Kompanichenko and the commander of logistics of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Ukrainets, while transferring $320,000 to them. According to the investigation, the defendants organized a scheme to embezzle state funds during the construction of fortifications.
The prosecutor of the Prosecutor General’s Office requested that Kompanichenko be placed under arrest as a preventive measure with the possibility of posting bail in the equivalent of $320,000.
On Friday, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court will also consider the case of Andriy Ukrainets, the commander of logistics of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recall that the Security Service of Ukraine reported a new suspicion to the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces , who was previously exposed for illegal enrichment. According to the investigation, the official legalized almost $1 million obtained through criminal means.
By the way, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported new suspicions to the head of the food service of one of the military units as part of the investigation into the corruption scheme of supplying food to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This concerns illegal enrichment and legalization of property obtained by criminal means.
