Russia may try to take advantage of the “window of opportunity” and is considering a scenario of potential actions against the Baltic states by the end of 2028, while Europe has not yet completed rearmament.

This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Latvian Armed Forces, Kaspars Pudans, the Financial Times reports.

According to him, Russia’s key strength lies not so much in technology as in the large-scale production of drones and their rapid adaptation to combat conditions.

“Their advantage is in the scale of drone production. They are able to quickly replenish stocks and provide significant volumes of use,” Pudans noted.

He also suggested that Russia may try to use the “window of opportunity” until the end of 2028, while European countries have not yet completed the modernization of their armies.

“If I were in the Kremlin, I would say that if we are going to do something, we have to do it by the end of 2028,” he added.

Pudans noted that a potential risk zone could be the Baltic countries, which are considered the most vulnerable due to their geographical proximity to Russia and the pace of strengthening the defense of NATO’s eastern flank.

At the same time, he emphasized that Russia is currently limited in its capabilities for a large-scale offensive due to the war against Ukraine, but after its end, the threat level may increase significantly.
