Ukraine and Germany Sign Landmark Deal to Produce BARS Drones for the Armed Forces

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga and German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius have signed an agreement on the joint production of BARS drones to strengthen the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The initiative aims to expand defense cooperation between the two countries and boost Ukraine’s domestic drone production.
The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced this on the social network Kh.
The agreement was concluded within the framework of the Build with Ukraine initiative, based on the results of cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Federal Ministry of Defense of Germany.
According to Sybiga, in the first stage of the project, financing for drone production will be provided by the German side. All manufactured drones will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The minister emphasized that cooperation with Germany is aimed at strengthening the Ukrainian defense industry and increasing the production of modern technologies for the army’s needs.
As a reminder, the Federal Government of Germany approved the draft state budget for 2027, which provides for 11.6 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine and a significant increase in the country’s defense spending.
As previously reported, Ukraine has signed a contract with Germany to supply 600 missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. At the same time, Kyiv has received a positive signal from the administration of US President Donald Trump for the first time regarding the possible granting of licenses to produce anti-ballistic missiles.
