Given the demands of modern warfare, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have extended the basic combined arms training (BZVP) course to 51 days. The updated program includes practical skills in countering drones, surviving in trench warfare, and operating military vehicles.
This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have updated the Basic Combined Military Training (BCMT) program, extending its duration to 51 days. The decision was made following a strategic meeting chaired by Commander-in-Chief General Oleksandr Syrskyi, focused on enhancing the quality of troop training.
“The quality of training is the foundation of our forces’ resilience,” Syrskyi emphasized.
Key changes to the BCMT program:
-
Introduction of modules on countering strike drones;
-
Expanded firearms and engineering training;
-
A new survival course for trench warfare.
-
Increased focus on realism and adaptation to frontline conditions.
The adaptation process for soldiers transitioning from training centers to combat units has also been revised. Syrskyi stressed that the Ukrainian army must remain flexible in the face of evolving threats and be capable of rapidly integrating new training methods.
Additionally, safety protocols in training centers have been reinforced. In response to aerial threats, more training is now conducted underground. The Commander-in-Chief highlighted the importance of immediate action in response to air raid alerts and enemy drone sightings.
In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are launching an Instructor Training School, established with the support of the “Return Alive” Foundation. This partnership has already resulted in the creation of three specialized schools focused on training UAV operators, radiation, nuclear, and chemical (RNC) defense personnel, and electronic warfare (EW) specialists.
“The main thing is people. The better the preparation, the higher the chances of survival and victory,” Syrskyi concluded.
It was previously reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are updating the format of basic general military training – its duration will be increased to 51 days. Two additional days will be devoted to practicing skills in countering enemy strike drones.
Recall that all training centers that train mobilized personnel are implementing the fifth edition of the basic combined arms training program, which aims to improve the psychological resilience of military personnel.
