Battles for Kupyansk: Russian losses exceeded Ukrainian losses by dozens of times

During the fighting in Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 27 Russian soldiers for every Ukrainian soldier killed.

This is reported by The Times, citing a British intelligence assessment.

A source in the defense ministry, who provided the publication with data, noted that on Christmas Eve, during the battles for the city, up to 200 Russian soldiers found themselves surrounded by Ukrainian units that were conducting offensive operations.

The exact number of Russian military casualties in this area is not disclosed, however, according to the publication’s interlocutor, Russian losses in the Kupyansk area over the past year have reached thousands of people.

To reduce pressure on the city, which was on the verge of capture, the command transferred some of the most trained Ukrainian units to Kupyansk. Among them were fighters from the 13th “Charter” brigade.

The Times notes that Ukrainian forces have managed to almost completely push Russian troops away from the city. The publication recalls that Ukrainian soldiers raised the national flag over the ruins of the city council building.

In addition, Ukrainian forces carried out an airstrike on a hospital building in Kupyansk, where, according to intelligence, Russian military personnel were hiding.

It was previously reported that Ukraine plans to eliminate about 50,000 Russian soldiers every month.

As a reminder, as of the morning of January 20, Russia has lost about 1,228,570 military personnel since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Over the course of the day, the enemy’s losses in manpower reached 1,130 people.
