Beaten and threatened with execution: Russian FSB officer under suspicion

Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the regional police headquarters have identified another war criminal who, in the spring of 2022, detained and tortured a couple who helped the Ukrainian military.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators determined that he was a 50-year-old native of the Leningrad region, who lived in Crimea before the full-scale invasion of the Russian military into Ukraine and is an employee of the Russian Federal Security Service.

“It has currently been established that on the morning of March 25, 2022, the defendant, together with a group of Russian military personnel, arrived at the occupied Cossack Camps. The invaders entered the courtyard where a man and a woman lived,” the post says.

The owner, by order of the occupant, was immediately tied up and forcibly placed in the interior of a minibus. Then, an FSB representative entered the house, where he immediately hit the woman in the face. She fell to the floor from the blow. After that, a representative of the Russian special services and two other Russian servicemen kicked the woman at least 20 times on the body.

After that, the war criminal searched the house and found the uniforms of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and traces of their temporary stay in the house. After this discovery, the FSB representative began questioning the woman, who was lying on the floor the whole time. In order to obtain information about her cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the circumstances of the hiding of the “Ukrainian partisans”, one of the occupiers poured vodka into her mouth, while not allowing her to breathe.

The victim remained silent and the attacker kicked her several times again. Then he put a gun to the woman’s eye and threatened to shoot her. After the torture ended, the Russian attacker ordered her hands to be tied and put in the car.

Later, the occupants brought the civil couple to Kherson to the captured building of the temporary detention center of the regional police headquarters. There, the illegally detained were taken to various offices, where they were physically assaulted in order to obtain information about cooperation with the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

After the torture, the man and woman were taken to a cell, where they were held for 2.5 months. The room did not have a proper ventilation system, food was provided to the illegal prisoners no more than once a day for the entire time. The civil spouses were also deprived of the opportunity to perform hygiene procedures, they were forbidden to walk in the fresh air, and no medical care was provided.

The couple was released on June 8 without providing any documents regarding the reasons for their detention and imprisonment.

It is noted that the defendant was notified of the suspicion in absentia. He faces eight to twelve years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Recall that since the beginning of the full-scale war , Ukrainian courts have handed down 14 in-person sentences to captured Russian servicemen for committing war crimes.

As reported, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko announced that the court has sentenced a Russian soldier involved in the execution of servicemen of the Defense Forces.
