Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said that during joint military exercises with Russia, it is planned to practice scenarios for the use of nuclear weapons, as well as the latest Oreshnik system. According to him, this is an important element of strategic deterrence in the face of growing tension on the country’s western and northern borders.

Khrenin stressed that the Belarusian authorities cannot ignore the “militarization” and intensification of military operations in neighboring regions, which pose a threat to the country’s security. Therefore, Minsk considers it necessary to strengthen defense capabilities, including through practical exercises in the use of nuclear weapons.

According to the minister, the exercises are aimed at practicing effective planning and coordination of actions between Belarusian and Russian forces in the event of threats of a “strategic scale.” In particular, attention is paid to the use of the Oreshnik system, which, according to Khrenin, has significant potential in strengthening defense capabilities.

It is worth noting that these exercises are taking place against the backdrop of worsening relations between Belarus, Russia, and Western countries, which have increased pressure on the regime of Alexander Lukashenko due to its policies and role in regional conflicts.

As a reminder, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, stated that the first serial model of the Oreshnik ballistic missile system has already been transferred to the Russian army.

As reported, the first Russian troops are already in Belarus, they will take part in joint exercises, the active phase of which is scheduled for September.

By the way, Ukraine is closely monitoring the military exercises of Russia and Belarus “West-2025”. So far, no threats to the country have been recorded.
