Belgium will transfer three F-16s to Ukraine this year – Zelensky

Belgium will transfer three F-16 fighters to Ukraine by the end of 2026. The Ukrainian side has already received delivery dates for these aircraft, as well as F-16s from other partners.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.

“There is an important agreement with Belgium on the transfer of three F-16 fighters to us by the end of this year. We will implement the receipt of these aircraft through an accelerated procedure,” the president said.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine has already received terms for the delivery of F-16s from Belgium and other countries, in particular Spain.

The President thanked the Belgian government for the decision and emphasized that, amid increasing Russian air attacks, Ukraine needs more means to destroy air targets and protect the population.

“When Russia increases its escalation every day, we need to add capabilities to shoot down air targets and protect people,” he noted.

Zelensky also stated that increased support for Ukraine should be the partners’ response to Russian strikes.

Recall, earlier “Pryamiy” wrote that Ukraine and Belgium discussed further support, in particular F-16s and ammunition for them. At that time, Defense Minister Yevheniy Khmara also noted Belgium’s assistance in repairing fighter jets and supplying spare parts.
