Berinchyk – Nokes: where and when to watch the fight in London

Ukrainian former lightweight world champion Denys Berinchyk will fight against Briton Sam Noakes in London on August 29. For the 38-year-old Ukrainian, this will be his first fight after a year and a half break and a return after a loss to Keyshawn Davis and a long recovery from a shoulder injury.

The Berinchyk – Noakes fight will take place at the O2 Arena in London on the undercard of the fight between Briton Moses Itauma and Croatian Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight title. The boxing evening will start at 19:00 Kyiv time, and Berinchyk and Noakes are expected to enter the ring approximately after 23:00 .

The fight will be broadcast live in Ukraine by the media service ” MEGOGO “. The fight will be available for a paid subscription, and the broadcast will also take place in the “Sports” section, on the “MEGOGO Gong” channel and on a separate pop-up channel in the “Television” section.

For Berinchyk, this fight will be a return after a long break. The Ukrainian last entered the ring in February 2025 in New York, where he defended the WBO lightweight world title. Then Berinchyk lost to American Keyshawn Davis by knockout in the 4th round and lost the championship belt. After the fight, it became known that the Ukrainian was training with a shoulder injury – he had a torn labrum.

After that, Berinchyk underwent 2 shoulder surgeries and went through a long recovery process. In preparation for his return to the ring, he changed coaches again, starting to work with Yuriy Tkachenko. At the same time, Tkachenko will not be in the boxer’s corner during the fight itself: the coach worked in Berinchyk’s camp for about 3 weeks, after which the Ukrainian trained with Vitaliy Znak.

The Ukrainian’s opponent will be 29-year-old Sam Noakes . The Briton has fought 19 professional fights, winning 18, 16 of which he finished early. His only defeat was in a fight for the vacant WBO title against Abdullah Mason – Noakes lost on points.

Noakes is known as an aggressive boxer with a strong punch. The Briton relies on power boxing and work near the ropes, while Berinchyk uses constant movement, changing stances, distance, and direction of attacks.

It is the Ukrainian’s style that can create problems for Noakes. It is important for Berinchyk not to let the Briton press himself against the ropes and avoid long power exchanges. The WBO International title will be at stake in the fight. Berinchyk already held this belt from 2018-2023. Noakes won the title in December 2024 in a fight against Ryan Walsh.

Before the fight, bookmakers consider Noakes to be the clear favorite. The odds for the Briton to win are estimated at about 1.2, while the odds for Berinchik to win are around 6. The probability of a draw is estimated at about 16.

The most likely outcome is an early victory for Noakes – the odds are about 1.73. The Briton’s victory on points is about 2.7, Berinchyk’s victory by decision is about 7, and the Ukrainian’s early victory is about 11.

On the eve of the fight, during the official weigh-in, Berinchyk unfurled the flag of Ukraine with a trident and the inscription “We are invincible.” After the traditional duel of glances with Noakes, the Ukrainian showed the flag to the public. At the weigh-in, the boxers showed almost the same weight. Berinchyk weighed 60.826 kg, and Noakes – 60.840 kg.

Berinchyk won the WBO world title in May 2024, when he defeated Mexican Emanuel Navarrete by split decision. However, in the next defense of the belt, the Ukrainian lost to Davis.

The fight with Noakes could be an opportunity for Berinchyk to return to the ranks of the leading lightweight boxers. After a long break and a defeat to Davis, the Ukrainian fell out of the ratings and lost some of the attention of promoters, so a victory over the 29-year-old Briton could open the way for him to new big fights.
