Billions of dollars in investments and resettlement: the US unveiled a post-war plan for Gaza

Donald Trump’s administration is preparing a sweeping post-war plan for Gaza that would see the enclave handed over to US control for at least 10 years. The document, known as the GREAT Trust, describes the creation of a “Middle Eastern Riviera” on the ruins of Gaza, with the local population relocated and the area transformed into a tourist and technology hub.
This is reported by The Washington Post .
According to journalists, work is underway in Washington on a plan that should determine the future of post-war Gaza. A 38-page document circulating in the Donald Trump administration proposes the establishment of a kind of protectorate under US control for at least a decade.
The project is called the Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust (GREAT Trust) . Its authors, including Israeli businessmen and international consultants, see the enclave as a future resort and industrial center. The plan involves the construction of modern ports, an airport, an industrial zone, high-tech industries and even a “strip of world-class resorts” along the Mediterranean coast.
At the same time, a key point is the temporary eviction of more than 2 million Palestinians. The document calls it “voluntary resettlement”: those who agree to leave are offered a one-time payment of $5,000 and payment of rent and food for several years. Landowners are promised digital tokens that can later be exchanged for apartments in new “smart cities.”
For those who stay, “safe zones” are provided, but their maintenance, as calculations show, will be much more expensive for the trust than the payments to those who agree to leave. The plan itself estimates the cost of maintaining one resident at $23,000, while the compensation for leaving is three times less.
The plan calls for full private and public investment in “megaprojects” ranging from electric car factories to data centers and hotel complexes. The expected investment value is about $100 billion, with a projected four-fold return over ten years.
The discussions included US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. Donald Trump has repeatedly said in speeches that he sees Gaza as “a phenomenal place on the coast that could be made into the Riviera of the Middle East.”
Critics of the plan say any forced or even “encouraged” eviction of Palestinians is against international law. In Gaza itself, residents say they are not ready to leave their land, even in the face of devastation and hunger. It is unclear whether this option will be ultimately approved by the White House, but its appearance clearly outlines Trump’s vision for controlling the enclave in the years to come.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave the green light to the army’s plan to take control of Gaza City and defeat Hamas.
As a reminder, Israel is preparing for a large-scale phase of the war in the Gaza Strip. The authorities are beginning to mobilize about 60,000 reservists, who are to join the forces that will participate in the preparation and, probably, in the implementation of the operation in Gaza.
As reported, the Israeli army has officially launched a ground operation in Gaza City . The country’s defense forces have already occupied the outskirts of the city and are gradually advancing inland.
