Bills on the extension of martial law and mobilization submitted to the Verkhovna Rada

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada draft laws on extending martial law and general mobilization. The documents provide for the extension of both regimes for another 90 days from February 3, 2026.

This is stated in the relevant draft laws on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

The Verkhovna Rada website published draft laws No. 14366 and No. 14367 dated January 12, 2026. They concern the approval of the decrees of the President of Ukraine on the extension of martial law and the period of general mobilization.

According to the explanatory note to draft law No. 14366, it is proposed to extend the martial law from 05:30 on February 3, 2026 for 90 days.

Draft Law No. 14367 provides for an extension of the period of general mobilization from February 3, 2026, also for 90 days.

The draft laws were sent for consideration by the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada.

“The term there is currently valid until February 3, corresponding to May 4, 2026,” said People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

He also noted that further consideration of the documents will take place in the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Defense, after which the draft laws can be put to a vote in the session hall of the parliament.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that martial law in Ukraine can be lifted only after receiving effective security guarantees . According to him, without such guarantees, ending the war with Russia is impossible.

It is worth adding that before this , the Verkhovna Rada had already extended the relevant measures 17 times . Martial law in Ukraine was first introduced on February 24, 2022 in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion. President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on its introduction, and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved it on the same day. Martial law was imposed from 05:30 on February 24, 2022 for a period of 30 days, and since then it has been repeatedly extended due to the ongoing threat and military aggression.

Recall that in October, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed laws extending martial law and general mobilization for another 90 days — until February 3, 2026 .
