On Wednesday, August 13, Bitcoin set a new historical record, surpassing the $124,000 mark for the first time.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

Bitcoin surged to $123,500 in New York City on Tuesday evening, breaking its previous high of $123,205 set less than a month ago. By morning in Singapore, the cryptocurrency had climbed to around $124,000. The record jump came amid new highs in the U.S. stock market, where the S&P 500 index also set a record.

However, after the peak value, the price of Bitcoin fell slightly and as of Thursday morning was around $123,000 per unit.

Experts explain this growth by the fact that Bitcoin has been steadily gaining popularity among large investors in recent months. This is partly due to Washington’s policy, which creates a favorable regulatory climate for digital currencies. Large companies, in particular, Michael Saylor’s Strategy, are actively buying cryptocurrency, repeating the popular practice of accumulation. A similar trend covers other digital assets, such as Ethereum, which generally fuels the wave of growth in the market.

Recall that the fugitive Moldovan oligarch Ilan Shor, who is under sanctions and wanted in his homeland, turned out to be the author of a new global scheme to circumvent sanctions against Russia.

As reported, the National Bank of Ukraine is open to discussing the legalization of virtual assets, but insists on adhering to key principles that will ensure the stability of the monetary system.
