Black smoke over Feodosia: oil depot catches fire in temporarily occupied Crimea
Explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied Feodosia, after which a column of black smoke rose above the city. According to local channels, an oil depot probably caught fire, and previously an unmanned danger was declared in the region.
This was reported by the head of the Center for the Study of Occupation, Petro Andryuschenko.
According to eyewitnesses, a column of thick black smoke rose above the city. Previously, an unmanned danger was declared over Crimea. The movement of sea transport was also stopped, as well as traffic on the Crimean Bridge.
At the same time, Oleg Kryuchkov, an advisor to the Russian head of Crimea, confirmed the fire at the base and stated that the cause of the fire was “a violation of welding technology.”
It is reported that the explosions occurred on the afternoon of September 29, after which a large-scale fire broke out in the area of the oil depot.
The Feodosia oil depot, which after the annexation of Crimea is managed by JSC “Marine Oil Terminal”, has a transshipment capacity of about 12 million tons per year. At the same time, up to 250 thousand tons of oil products can be stored here. It is known that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the facility has repeatedly become the target of air attacks.
Currently, the causes of the incident and possible consequences are still being investigated.
