Blowing up of a National Guardsman in Kyiv: Law enforcement officers detained three perpetrators of the terrorist attack in the capital
The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police have detained three men who carried out a double terrorist attack in the Darnytsia district of Kyiv on December 11. The arrests were made “hot on the trail” within 6 hours of the explosions.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU.
According to the case materials, the detainees acted on the instructions of Russian special services. The suspects turned out to be three Ukrainian citizens aged 23, 27 and 25, natives of the Odessa and Donetsk regions.
The investigation established that they worked as construction workers in the capital and at the same time looked for part-time jobs in Telegram channels. It was through such channels that they were recruited by representatives of the enemy’s special services.
After receiving the task of committing a terrorist attack, the men divided their roles and, adhering to the conspiracy, purchased components for making improvised explosive devices from various industrial stores.
Having made the explosive, they placed it at the specified coordinates, which were transmitted by the curator. To broadcast the explosions online and coordinate actions, the Russian side installed mobile phones near the site of the terrorist attack that transmitted video in real time.
Both explosions occurred in an industrial area patrolled by National Guard troops.
The first explosion occurred as two National Guardsmen were walking past an improvised explosive device. As a result of the explosion, one serviceman was killed, and another and a territory guard were injured to varying degrees.
The second explosion occurred after law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, injuring two more police officers.
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police promptly identified the perpetrators and detained them at their place of residence.
As part of criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the men will be notified of suspicion of committing a terrorist act that resulted in the death of a person.
The exposure and detention were carried out by employees of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region together with employees of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the city of Kyiv under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
