Bodies of 1,000 fallen soldiers returned to Ukraine
The bodies of 1,000 victims were returned to Ukraine as part of regular repatriation efforts.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
According to the Russian side, the returned remains belong to Ukrainian servicemen. Ukrainian investigators, together with experts, will conduct the necessary examinations to establish the identities of the deceased.
After identification, the bodies will be handed over to the families for a dignified burial.
The repatriation was carried out thanks to the joint work of the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center at the SBU, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ombudsman’s Office, structures dealing with missing persons, the State Emergency Service, and other units of the security and defense sector.
The International Committee of the Red Cross also joined the process, facilitating the events.
The transportation of the bodies to specialized institutions was provided by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which organized the transfer of the remains to law enforcement officers and forensic experts.
