The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The tournament will be the first World Cup to feature 48 national teams.
This is reported by the organizers of the competition.
Previously, the World Cup format involved 32 teams, but from 2026 the number of participants has been significantly increased, which should expand the geography of the tournament and give a chance to more national teams.
Bookmakers have already identified the main favorites for the upcoming championship.
“The main contender for victory is the Spanish national team,” bookmaker market analysts note.
The reigning European champions are offered odds of 5.50 to win, followed by France (6.50), England (7.00), Argentina (9.00) and Brazil (9.00).
The expanded pool of contenders also includes Germany and Portugal (13.00 each), as well as the Netherlands, Norway and Belgium.
Organizers expect the 2026 World Cup to be one of the largest sporting tournaments in football history.
