Border checkpoints will stop operating during threat of Russian strikes – State Border Service of Ukraine

During airstrikes, border crossing operations will be temporarily suspended in areas where there is a threat of Russian strikes. The State Border Service of Ukraine explained that this is necessary to prevent a gathering of people and possible casualties in the event of an attack.

This was reported by the spokesman for the State Border Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko.

According to him, recently, Russian troops, during attacks on the western regions of Ukraine, have also been striking border areas near the state border and checkpoints.

“Having started to strike directly at the checkpoints in the Odessa region, we see that the enemy, during the attack on the western regions, is also, in fact, striking at the border area in the immediate vicinity of the border line, at the checkpoints,” Demchenko noted.

He recalled the Russian strikes near the Yagodyn checkpoint on the border with Poland, where they attacked a gas station and railway infrastructure a few kilometers from the checkpoint.

“The algorithm of actions during alarms and during such a threat is to suspend passage operations at checkpoints, in areas where an air alarm may occur due to Russian actions,” the spokesman for the State Border Service of the Republic of Ukraine explained.

According to him, the main task of such a decision is to prevent a gathering of people and vehicles near the checkpoint and avoid possible casualties in the event of a direct attack by the Russian Federation.

Recall, earlier “Pryamiy” wrote that during the attack near “Yagodin” the Russian military used repeaters on the territory of Belarus, which help drones go deeper into Ukraine.

Also on September 13, the Russian Federation attacked a railway and a gas station near the Yagodyn checkpoint on the border with Poland. A passenger train locomotive and a gas station were damaged.
