Brand new iPhone 17 and more: record smuggling stopped at the border with Poland

In the Lviv region on Monday, September 22, border guards stopped a large-scale attempt to illegally import equipment from Europe. Among the seized items were not only washing machines and electric stoves, but also brand new iPhone 17s. The total value of the contraband is about 8 million hryvnias.

This was reported on Facebook by the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment.

The largest batch of gadgets was found at the Shehyny checkpoint. Thus, 148 gadgets of various models were found in Renault and Mercedes minibuses, which were trying to be imported from Germany to Chernivtsi for sale.

“Some of the gadgets were transported in a concealed manner, and among other things, washing machines, electric stoves, batteries, and a freezer were also discovered,” the report says.

In addition, three separate attempts to import an iPhone 17 without declaring were recorded in Shegyny.

Expensive smartphones were also discovered at other checkpoints:

• in “Rava-Ruska” over 20 Samsung and Apple gadgets were found in Peugeot, including iPhone 17;
• in the Mercedes minibus – three more latest iPhones;
• Two iPhone 17s were found in a Chrysler in Nyzhankovychy.

According to preliminary estimates, the total value of all seized smartphones and equipment is about 8 million hryvnias.

Earlier, Ukrainian and Moldovan law enforcement officers conducted a joint special operation, during which they eliminated a smuggling channel for the supply of the psychotropic substance Alpha-PVP to Moldova . Law enforcement officers detained members of an organized group and seized 12 kilograms of drugs.

As a reminder, Ukrainian security forces, together with law enforcement officers from Armenia, Georgia, and the United States, exposed an international heroin smuggling channel from Iran and detained its organizers.
