Bribe for unsuitability: the head of the Ukrainian Communist Party was detained in Transcarpathia

The head of the VLK was detained in Transcarpathia, and during a search, cash worth almost UAH 11 million was seized.

This is reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the investigation, the 60-year-old official organized a scheme to receive bribes for issuing fictitious medical reports. He demanded $6,000 from a conscript for assistance in passing a military medical commission and obtaining the status of limited fitness for service.

Investigators found that the official used existing medical documents without proper examinations and formally confirmed diagnoses.

Law enforcement officers documented the transfer of part of the funds and detained him after drawing up a conclusion and sending documents to the CCC.

During a search of the apartment, cash in various currencies was seized:

• over 240 thousand dollars
• more than 3 thousand euros
• almost 1.3 million forints
• over 260 thousand hryvnias

Among the seized items are marked banknotes transferred as an advance within the framework of crime control. The origin of the funds is being verified, and a petition for the seizure of property is being prepared.

The official was reported on suspicion of receiving illegal benefits. Prosecutors initiated detention and removal from office.

It was previously reported that the Security Service of Ukraine detained servicemen from one of the district CCCs in Odessa . The reasons are not officially disclosed at this time.

As a reminder, the Verkhovna Rada has registered a bill that is intended to change the rules of work for employees of territorial recruitment centers (TCC) . This concerns the mandatory identification of servicemen during mobilization events.
