Britain will strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses ahead of winter.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said London would make a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses ahead of the winter period.

He said this during a visit to Kyiv on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

In particular, Burnham promised to continue military support for Ukraine, despite threats from Russia.

The British prime minister also compared Ukraine’s fight against Russia to Britain’s resistance to Nazi Germany during World War II.

“My nation kept the flame of European liberty alive in the 20th century, and you are keeping that flame alive in the 21st,” Burnham said.

He emphasized that London will continue to support Ukraine, particularly in strengthening its ability to defend its skies against Russian missile and drone attacks. The issue of additional air defense assistance was a key topic at the European allies’ meeting in Kyiv.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham also stated that London would allow the declassification of data on British components of the Storm Shadow missile so that Ukraine could use this technology to develop its own production of long-range weapons.

It was previously reported that the UK is developing new long-range missiles for Ukraine that will not contain American components and could enter service within a year. According to sources, the new systems will be cheaper than Storm Shadow missiles and will have a range of over 500 kilometers.
