The Moscow City Court of the Russian Federation has arrested in absentia the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine and former head of the State Security Service of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov. In Russia, he is accused of allegedly “using prohibited means and methods of warfare.” This is the third “arrest” of Budanov in absentia issued by a Russian court.

This is reported by Russian propaganda media.

According to the Russian side, Budanov allegedly used means and methods in the armed conflict that were “prohibited by the international treaty of the Russian Federation.”

The propagandists also reported that the court dismissed Budanov’s “defense complaint.” However, they did not specify who filed the complaint and what was its subject.

In December 2023, a Russian court arrested in absentia for the second time Kirill Budanov, who at that time headed Ukrainian military intelligence.

Earlier, in October 2023, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation brought charges against representatives of the top military leadership of Ukraine, in particular Budanov. The Russian side stated the alleged involvement of the Ukrainian military in drone attacks on civilian infrastructure in Russia.

At the same time, the Russian Federation itself has launched a full-scale war against Ukraine and regularly strikes civilian infrastructure.
