Budapest has put forward an EU condition regarding 90 billion euros for Ukraine

Hungary continues to block a 90 billion euro EU loan for Ukraine and links its decision to the transit of oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline.

This was reported by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

He said Budapest would not support the loan until oil supplies to Hungary were restored. The minister accused Ukraine of stopping transit and said that Kyiv was allegedly coordinating its actions with Brussels and the Hungarian opposition to create disruptions in the domestic fuel market before the elections.

Szijjártó also stated that blocking transit through Druzhba violates the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine and contradicts Kyiv’s obligations to the European Union.

The minister emphasized that Hungary will not lift its veto on financial assistance to Ukraine until the transit situation changes.

Thus, Budapest has effectively confirmed that it links the unblocking of 90 billion euros to energy issues.

It was previously reported that Hungary blocked an agreed European Union loan of 90 billion euros for Ukraine.

As a reminder, Hungary will direct 250,000 tons of oil from its strategic reserves to the domestic market after the cessation of supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.
