The Verkhovna Rada did not support amendment No. 1003 to the draft state budget for 2027, which provided for limiting the salaries of civil servants to UAH 80,000 per month.
The vote took place at a parliamentary session on Wednesday. 157 out of the 226 required MPs voted in favor of the amendment.
Previously, this proposal was also not supported by the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada. The amendment provided for setting a maximum monthly salary of UAH 80,000 for employees of state authorities, local governments, and budget institutions in order to save budget funds.
The restrictions were to apply, in particular, to people’s deputies, judges, judges of the Constitutional Court, members of the High Council of Justice and the High Qualification Commission of Judges, prosecutors, and employees of the National Bank of Ukraine.
At the same time, the norm would not apply to persons participating in the defense of Ukraine and repelling Russian aggression. The exact list of positions to which the restriction would apply was to be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.
In addition, parliamentarians rejected amendment No. 611. It provided for a ban on including in plea agreements the obligation of the accused to pay funds to third parties. According to this proposal, the funds were to be directed exclusively to the state budget or to compensation for damages within the framework of a civil lawsuit.
It was previously reported that the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada unanimously supported an amendment to the state budget, which provides for an order to the government to increase the salaries of military personnel. However, there is no final decision on the increase in payments yet.
In addition, on October 28, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft State Budget of Ukraine for 2027 in the first reading. The decision was supported by 239 people’s deputies.
