Bulgaria does not plan to transfer new arms shipments to Ukraine. Sofia believes that further buildup of weapons will not help end the war.

This was reported by The Sofia Globe, citing a statement by Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov.

During a press conference on June 9, he stated that Ukraine does not need additional weapons now.

“Ukraine needs more people, not more weapons. It has enough weapons, so we do not envisage providing more weapons to the Ukrainian army,” Stoyanov said.

According to the minister, the war has reached a stalemate, and hostilities are only increasing the number of casualties.

“We see a war of position. And no matter how much weapons are accumulated, the result is only new human losses,” he said.

Stoyanov also spoke in favor of starting negotiations.

“It’s time to sit down at the negotiating table. It’s time to seek a just peace,” said the head of the Bulgarian Defense Ministry.

Similar statements have been made recently by Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev. He has repeatedly said that the war should be ended diplomatically, not just with military support.
