By the 2026-2027 heating season, they plan to introduce 1.5 GW of cogeneration

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that by the start of the 2026-2027 heating season, Ukraine plans to commission 1.5 GW of cogeneration plants.

According to her, approximately 400 MW of the planned capacity will be provided by state-owned enterprises, with another 330 MW coming from previously held tenders for power generation construction. The remaining capacity is to be developed by private businesses.
Svyrydenko noted that at the meeting, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine considered the issue of further simplifying the conditions for connecting to next-generation electricity in order to encourage entrepreneurs to invest more actively in this area.
Naftogaz Group , NEC Ukrenergo and the Ukrainian Gas Transmission System Operator also presented their plans to protect energy infrastructure.
The Prime Minister emphasized that special attention must be paid to protecting 35 kV, 110 kV, and 150 kV substations at the regional level. According to her, these measures should receive the largest portion of funding.
