The first Ukrainian long-range missiles, purchased with funds from Germany, will enter service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the end of July.

The chief coordinator of German military aid to Ukraine, Major General Christian Freiding, announced this in an interview with ZDF .

He noted that we are talking about a “large three-digit number of units” and emphasized that Germany will continue to finance the supply of long-range weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The agreement was signed between the Ukrainian Defense Ministry and the Ukrainian defense industry in Kyiv on Friday at the initiative and with funding from Germany at the end of May.

“We need systems that can hit command posts, airfields, aircraft and operate deep inside Russian territory,” Freiding said.

He added that these long-range systems will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s air defense in the coming weeks and months.

Earlier, Germany officially launched funding for the production of long-range drones for Ukraine. The contract provides for the delivery of more than 500 Antonov-196 aircraft.

Let us recall that Germany plans to provide Ukraine with more than 100 million euros for the development and production of An-196 type attack drones , which will be able to fly a distance of more than 2,000 km.

Sweden will reportedly finance the production of Ukrainian long-range drones based on the “Danish model”.
