Canada Sanctions Armored Vehicle Manufacturer Supplying Russia’s National Guard

Canada has imposed sanctions on defense manufacturer Streit Group after credible reports confirmed that its armored vehicles are being used by Russia’s National Guard in the war against Ukraine.
This was announced by Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.
Streit Group manufactures armored vehicles and other military equipment. The Canadian Foreign Ministry said it had received numerous reports of the company’s products being used by Russian security forces.
In particular, armored vehicles manufactured by Streit Group are used by the Russian Guard, which is participating in Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The Canadian foreign policy department noted that the new restrictions should reduce the company’s ability to supply military technology and equipment to Russia.
Canada thus hopes to weaken the Russian military potential and limit the capabilities of the Russian military-industrial complex.
The Canadian Foreign Ministry also emphasized that the country continues to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga thanked Canada for imposing sanctions.
According to him, companies that supply technology, equipment, or components to the Russian military-industrial complex are contributing to the war against Ukraine and must bear responsibility for this.
