Champions League Draw: Shakhtar Learn Their Eight Opponents

Shakhtar Donetsk have learned their eight opponents in the 2026/27 Champions League group stage. The Ukrainian club will face European heavyweights Real Madrid and Inter Milan, as well as Sporting CP, PSV Eindhoven, Fenerbahçe, Leipzig, AEK Athens, and Slovan Bratislava.
This became known after the Champions League draw, held on August 27 in Monaco.
Shakhtar was in the third pot before the draw. In total, the team received eight opponents—two from each pot.
At home, the Miners will play against Real Madrid, Sporting, Fenerbahce, and AEK.
On the road, Shakhtar will face Inter, PSV, RB Leipzig, and Slovan Bratislava.
The Ukrainian club will play its home Champions League matches at Stamford Bridge in London.
The exact dates and times of the matches will be announced later. The main round of the tournament will start in September 2026, and the final, eighth round will take place on January 27, 2027.
The Champions League is in a new format for the third consecutive season. 36 teams play in a single standings, with each club playing eight matches against different opponents. The top eight teams will advance directly to the round of 16. Clubs finishing in 9th-24th place on the main stage will play an additional playoff round.
