Charger exploded: family with children almost burned alive
A charger exploded in an apartment in a residential building in the village of Novosilky (Kyiv region). A family with two children was injured as a result of the incident.
This is reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to rescuers, the explosion of a charger led to a fire in the apartment. Due to thick smoke, the entrance of the high-rise building quickly filled with combustion products, and the residents were unable to get out on their own.
“Rescuers unblocked the door, evacuated 62 residents of the building, took the affected family out into the fresh air and handed them over to medics,” the State Emergency Service noted.
According to preliminary information, three people — a father and two children — were hospitalized with a diagnosis of “combustion product poisoning.”
The children’s mother did not require medical attention.
The State Emergency Service reminds of the rules for the safe use of chargers
Rescuers are urging citizens to be especially careful when using electrical appliances, batteries, and generators.
Key tips from the State Emergency Service:
use only certified chargers and batteries;
do not leave equipment charging unattended, especially at night;
regularly check the condition of cables and sockets;
turn on generators only outdoors – carbon monoxide is deadly;
Do not place candles near flammable objects – choose flashlights or battery-powered lamps for lighting.
As a reminder, on October 28, at around 3:00 p.m. , a powerful explosion was heard on Ternopilska Street in Khmelnytskyi. Previously, a domestic gas explosion occurred in a residential high-rise building.
As reported, five people, including one child, were injured in the explosion.
