Children spotted in Russian and Soviet costumes at the White House on Halloween
During the traditional White House Halloween celebration, two children’s costumes caught the eye: a girl in Russian national costume and a boy in Soviet military uniform. They were spotted among the event participants, who were treated to sweets by US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
This became known from the broadcast of the celebration, released by the White House.
The festive event took place on Thursday, October 29, the eve of Halloween, which traditionally falls on October 31. During the meeting, children took turns approaching the Trumps to receive sweets.
The released footage shows a girl wearing a sundress and kokoshnik, which are elements of the Russian national costume. Another participant in the celebration was dressed in a Soviet military uniform. Melania Trump, in particular, touched the boy’s cap.
As reported on the White House website , among the invitees were families of American military personnel, law enforcement officers, foster and adoptive families, as well as government employees with children.
American government agencies and organizations also joined the celebration, providing treats, coloring pages, mini pumpkins, and apples for children.
