China believes that the process of resolving Russia’s war against Ukraine has reached a critical point.

This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The Chinese Foreign Minister held a telephone conversation with Celso Amorim, Special Assistant to the President of Brazil for International Affairs. During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on the “Ukrainian crisis.”

“Russia and Ukraine have already started negotiations, taking an important step forward. The current crisis resolution process has reached a critical moment,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

China and Brazil also confirmed that they are ready to promote a ceasefire and peace talks for a “political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.”

Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant warned China that purchases of Russian oil would lead to the imposition of high tariffs .
