During Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s upcoming visit to China, the two sides plan to discuss bilateral cooperation and international issues of common interest.

Global Times reports this.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said this trip will be Putin’s 25th visit to China.

According to him, during the talks, the leaders of China and Russia will discuss the development of bilateral relations, cooperation in various fields, as well as international and regional issues.

Beijing clarified that the discussions concerned topics of “common interest” for both countries. However, the Chinese side did not directly mention the Ukrainian issue.

According to Reuters , Moscow has high hopes for the upcoming visit.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called relations between Russia and China “a particularly privileged and strategic partnership.”

“We have very high hopes for this visit,” he said.

According to Peskov, the Russian delegation will include deputy prime ministers, ministers, and heads of large companies.

During the negotiations, the parties may also discuss the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline project, which is intended to connect Russia’s Arctic fields with China via Mongolia.

It’s worth recalling that Xi Jinping and Donald Trump met in Beijing on May 15. Following the talks, the Chinese side emphasized the need for diplomatic dialogue to resolve international conflicts.

Wang Yi also stated that China supports the negotiation process as the main way to resolve the situation in the Middle East.

“Beijing calls on the parties to continue resolving disputes over the nuclear issue and the Strait of Hormuz through negotiations and on the basis of observing the ceasefire,” Wang Yi said.

It was previously reported that the United States is ready to facilitate a diplomatic end to Russia’s war against Ukraine and hopes for a resumption of the negotiation process between the parties.

At the same time , the European Union is exploring the possibility of establishing a direct channel of negotiations with the Kremlin in order to avoid being sidelined in the peace process regarding the war in Ukraine.
