China Breaks Silence on Moscow’s Threat of “Systemic Strikes” Against Kyiv

China responded to Russia’s latest threats of “systemic strikes” on Kyiv with its usual calls for negotiations, restraint, and de-escalation.

This was announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning during a media briefing.

“China’s position on the Ukrainian crisis is consistent and clear. We consider dialogue and negotiations to be the only viable way to resolve the conflict,” the diplomat said during a daily briefing.

Commenting on Russia’s new threats regarding possible strikes on Kyiv, Mao Ning called on “relevant parties” not to escalate hostilities.

“We call on the relevant parties to make joint efforts to end the escalation as soon as possible and create conditions for the resumption of dialogue and negotiations,” she said.

At the same time, a representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry did not answer journalists’ questions about whether Beijing plans to evacuate its embassy staff in Kyiv.

As a reminder, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the Russian army is allegedly launching “successive systematic strikes” on enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex in Kyiv and “decision-making centers.”
