President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that China is not interested in ending the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine.

He said this during a conversation with journalists, Radio Liberty reports.

According to the president, China’s strategic doctrine is based on a global confrontation between Beijing and Washington. In this model, a “weak or defeated Russia” does not serve China’s interests.

“China is certainly a strong country, a strong economy. The most important thing for us is the influence China clearly has on Russia, on Putin personally. But… I don’t see China benefiting from ending this war,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The president added that this is precisely why “Ukrainians are suffering.” He also noted that, despite the lack of open public support for Russia, there are reports of China supplying machine tools for the Russian defense industry.

Earlier, Chinese leader Xi Jinping stated that he wants to see a peace agreement on Ukraine that all parties perceive as fair.

It was previously reported that Russian business is rapidly losing ground, while Chinese companies are easily taking over key markets.

As a reminder, expanded sanctions targeting Chinese ports and oil refineries are significantly slowing the flow of Russian and Iranian oil to China , the world’s largest consumer of “black gold.”
