China has expressed its readiness to play a constructive role in a diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine after Chinese President Xi Jinping met with US President Donald Trump in Beijing. Beijing stressed that China and the US support further peace talks and communication on the resolution of the war.

This is reported by Xinhua .

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Beijing is ready to participate in a political settlement of the war in Ukraine through diplomatic means.

“Complex issues do not have simple solutions, and peace negotiations cannot be achieved overnight. Both China and the United States are ready to maintain communication and play a constructive role in the political settlement of the crisis,” Wang Yi said.

According to the Chinese minister, both China and the United States hope for a speedy end to the war and are making “significant efforts” to facilitate the negotiation process.

It is worth recalling that Xi Jinping and Donald Trump met in Beijing on May 15. After the talks, the Chinese side separately emphasized the need for diplomatic dialogue to resolve international conflicts.

Wang Yi also stated that China advocates the negotiation process as the main way to resolve the situation in the Middle East.

“Beijing calls on the parties to continue to resolve disputes over the nuclear issue and the Strait of Hormuz through negotiations and on the basis of adhering to the ceasefire,” Wang Yi said.

It was previously reported that the United States is ready to facilitate a diplomatic end to Russia’s war against Ukraine and hopes for the resumption of the negotiation process between the parties.

At the same time, the European Union is exploring the possibility of establishing a direct channel of negotiations with the Kremlin so as not to be left out of the peace process regarding the war in Ukraine.
