China is against ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, as the conflict is exhausting both Russia and the United States, while creating strategic advantages for Beijing.
This was reported in The Telegraph.
Donald Trump is proposing new initiatives to end the war and putting pressure on the Kremlin, in particular by increasing tariffs.
However, according to the publication, China is blocking any attempts to achieve peace. Beijing supplies Russia with dual-use components – microelectronics, drones, optics and other technologies.
China has also established cooperation with Russia in the creation of drones.
“China remains the main buyer of Russian oil and gas. In June 2025, 47% of crude oil exports from Russia fell to China, despite US sanctions. Beijing is also reducing LNG imports from the US,” The Telegraph noted.
In addition, the ongoing war in Ukraine is strategically beneficial for China, which expects to simultaneously weaken Moscow and Washington and create a favorable moment for actions around Taiwan by 2027.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump informed European leaders of his intention to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin next week , and then to organize a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This could be the first direct dialogue of this format since the start of the full-scale war.
It is worth adding that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that after a conversation with Donald Trump, Russia is demonstrating greater readiness for a ceasefire . At the same time, he warned that the Kremlin should not be allowed to deceive either Ukraine or the United States. The head of state also noted the successes of the Ukrainian army in Kursk, which forced Moscow to ask for help from the DPRK.
By the way, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the process of resolving Russia’s war against Ukraine has reached a critical moment .
