China has deployed over a hundred intercontinental ballistic missiles in mines near the border with Mongolia and is actively building up its nuclear capabilities.

Reuters reports this.

China is believed to have deployed more than 100 DF-31 missiles at three minefields in the country’s northern region, according to a draft report from the US Department of Defense.

The document notes that Beijing is expanding and modernizing its nuclear arsenal faster than any other nuclear power. As of 2024, China had about 600 nuclear warheads, but by 2030 their number could exceed 1,000.

The report also says that China has not shown any willingness to engage in arms control negotiations. The Pentagon says it sees no desire from Beijing to engage in denuclearization efforts or engage in broader negotiations.

Analysts are also paying attention to China’s military plans for Taiwan. Beijing continues to prepare scenarios for the forcible seizure of the island and does not rule out the use of military force.

The report notes that China is practicing strikes as far as 1,500-2,000 nautical miles from its coasts. Such actions could pose serious challenges to the US military presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that China is not interested in ending the war that Russia is waging against Ukraine.

Recall that China has begun to form its own “shadow fleet” of gas tankers, which will allow the country to import Russian liquefied gas, which is under US sanctions.
