China reacted sharply to Zelensky’s statement on sanctions

China has responded to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s statement that new sanctions are being prepared that could affect not only Russians but also citizens of other countries, including China. Beijing has urged Kyiv to refrain from such steps and expressed its readiness to protect its citizens and companies.

This is reported by Ukrinform.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that Beijing opposes unilateral sanctions that were not supported by the UN Security Council and which, in China’s opinion, violate international law.

He stressed that the Ukrainian side must “correct its behavior” and continue to avoid actions that China considers unlawful towards its citizens and businesses.

Lin Jian also warned that if Chinese companies or individuals are included in Ukrainian sanctions lists, Beijing will take retaliatory measures.

According to him, China will protect its enterprises and citizens and reserves the right to respond to any restrictions from Ukraine.

It was previously reported that China has placed over a hundred intercontinental ballistic missiles in mines near the border with Mongolia and is actively building up its nuclear potential.

As a reminder, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said that he wants to see a peace agreement regarding Ukraine that all parties will perceive as fair.
