China has expressed deep concern over the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife by the United States.

This was reported by Clash Report.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the US actions are a gross violation of international law, fundamental norms of international relations, and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

Beijing called on Washington to ensure the personal safety of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, immediately dismiss them, stop attempts to overthrow the Venezuelan government, and resolve differences through dialogue and negotiations.

It was announced yesterday that Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife have been charged with conspiracy to commit “narcoterrorism” and “importing cocaine.”

Prior to this, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau stated that Nicolás Maduro would face justice “for his crimes.” Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been captured and removed from Venezuela.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump ordered strikes on targets inside Venezuela on Saturday, January 3. The Venezuelan government subsequently declared a state of emergency in the country due to the American attack .
