China is sending Russia the equipment needed to build a hypersonic missile capable of carrying nuclear warheads, a weapon Vladimir Putin is using to threaten the West.

This is stated in the material of The Telegraph.

Earlier this month, Russian forces fired an Oreshnik missile at a speed of 13,000 km/h at the city of Lviv, which is just 64 kilometers from the Polish border.

The hypersonic ballistic missile, which has only been used in combat twice, can deploy six warheads in flight that strike different targets.

The publication reports that the warheads could be mounted on missiles capable of hitting Europe in less than 20 minutes.

These tools are part of a $10.3 billion (£7.7 billion) investment in technology and advanced equipment.

China sent them to Russia to help Moscow create military equipment and expand weapons production.

It is noted that Russia has stated that the Oreshnik missile cannot be shot down, while Ukrainian officials and analysts warn that it poses a threat to the West.

The increase in production is partly due to a CNC (computer numerical control) machine – a Chinese-made carousel lathe that sharpens and cuts metal.

This particular lathe was identified by Ukrainian defense intelligence at the state-owned Votkinsk Plant, Russia’s leading missile manufacturer, which is under sanctions by the UK, US, EU and Japan.

The Votkinsk plant produces the Oreshnik missile, as well as Iskander-M ballistic missiles and Topol-M intercontinental ballistic missiles.

As a reminder, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that during the Oreshnik missile strike on Lviv, the Lviv State Aviation Repair Plant was targeted.

As reported, today Russia has only 3-4 medium-range ballistic missiles of the Oreshnik type . Moscow plans to launch these missiles into mass production as early as 2026.
